SCIENCE, MATH, ENGINEERING, INDUSTRY, AND HIGH TECHNOLOGY!
Although I have received a Bachelor and a Master of Arts in French and English respectively, I began university as a physics major. In high school I took accelerated math and science classes, including a university calculus class my senior year. I have extensive experience working in the scientific and technological realms. For instance, I did not write the procedural manuals at Synergistic Detector Designs FOR the head research developer, but AS the head research developer (see CV for details). I have also written user manuals for BK Science and Engineering regarding real-time, x-ray imaging systems for non-destructive testing in the aerospace industry. My most recent technical job, from 2000-2003, was as an experimental technician for Gain Micro-Optics, a start-up company in San Jose, California which manufactured high-definition television (HDTV) projection systems using LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology. I was involved in all phases of design and production, from designing parts, conducting experiments on light sources and materials, assembling optical components in clean rooms, to writing procedural manuals.
SPORTS, MUSIC, HISTORY, TRAVEL, LITERATURE, ADVENTURE—NAME IT!
For jobs not requiring technical expertise, my interests are endless: world traveler (over sixty countries on six continents), chess competitor (participated in the Mar del Plata Chess Open under the tutelage of International Master Jorge Rosito), kickboxer (former #1 ranked California featherweight—fought the Australian national champion in 1987 ), piano (classical) and guitar player, whitewater rafting and kayaking guide, former triathlete (participated on the US team at the 1994 world long-distance championships in Nice, France), certified Scuba diver, poem and short-story writer, Alaskan fisherman (long-lining), luxury yacht cook/waiter/deckhand on the French Riviera, history buff (specialty is Greco-Roman history), gymnast and trampolinist (former competitor), voracious reader, Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, Hollywood extra, expert pistol marksman, and mountain climber (attempted Mt Aconcagua in the Argentine Andes in 2006).
